The Lily Pond is an activity in JumpStart Toddlers (1999). It is designed to teach counting at a toddler level.

Description[]

There are many animals that live in the pond. The player can count them with DeeDee.

Difficulty level differences[]

  • Level one: The player can freely observe animals being counted.
  • Level two: The player must correctly count the animals, and then click the snail with the number that matches the number of animals, or press the a number key on the keyboard to the same effect.

Digital manual description[]

Level 1: (Counting from 1 - 10) Help DeeDee count the the fish, frogs, and turtles swimming by.

  • Press any key and a snail will light up. That many fish, frogs, or turtles will then swim out and DeeDee will count them.
  • Press a number key, and the number selected will prompt the corresponding snail to light up. That many fish, frogs or turtles will then swim out and DeeDee will count them.
  • Or, move the cursor over a snail to prompt that snail to light up. That many fish, frogs, or turtles will then swim out and DeeDee will count them.

Level 2: (Counting from 1 - 10 and identifying the quantity) This time DeeDee will ask you to count the number of fish, frogs, or turtles swimming in the pond.

  • Press the number key that corresponds to the number of fish, frogs or turtles you see.
  • Or, move the mouse over the snail with the corresponding number.

Educational Benefits: Your child can learn to identify the numbers 1 through 10. This is also an introduction to one to one correspondence and simple counting.
