JSA1 Kisha's Paint Studio painting a billboard

Painting a billboard

Kisha's Paint Studio is an activity (a variant of Paint Set) that appears in JumpStart Advanced 1st Grade: Fundamentals. It is accessed by clicking on Kisha's house from the main screen and is designed to teach art skills at a first grade level. It is a drawing activity that lets players exercise their creativity.

It does not award a power-up; Kisha's power-up must be obtained from her other activity, Kisha's Music Studio. It also does not have difficulty levels.

Description[]

Upon starting the activity, players must choose to make a Billboard or a Card. Both of these have a function elsewhere in the game: Billboards will be displayed on tracks during The Race and Cards can be used in Kisha's Music Studio. Billboards have a much smaller drawing area than Cards.

Players can draw using the paint brush, fill in areas using the paint bucket, erase using the eraser, and undo using the undo button. They can also use stickers, which have empty spaces that can be filled with the paint bucket.

The default colors available for use with the paint brush and paint bucket are white, black, red, yellow, blue, green, orange, and purple. The player can mix two of these colors to make new colors (but mixed colors cannot be mixed with other colors). The paint bucket can also be used with 8 different patterns.

The player can save their work, open (and edit if desired) saved paintings, print their paintings, or make a new painting.

Gameplay Instructions

There are two types of paintings that you and Kisha can create together. If you decide to paint pictures for the Card show, you'll get a really big canvas to paint on. If you choose to paint a billboard for the racetracks you'll have a smaller canvas.

Kisha has all of your favorite art supplies. You'll find lots of colors and patterns underneath the canvas. The main paint tools are to the right. From the top down, you'll see the bucket filler, paint brush, eraser and undo brush. Kisha also keeps stickers in the case below her. The green arrows scroll through the stickers and you can click them to drag them up to the canvas.

Just above Kisha, are the albums for saved card stunts and billboards. The book with the floppy disk is the save button. Click it and your current project will be automatically saved to the correct album. The print button is at the top of the shelves. If you want to disable printing, go to Parent Options from the Sign-in screen.

The Album: When you click the album button, a large album will fill most of the screen. It shows little frames that represent each of your saved projects. Use the arrows to scroll through all of the saved projects. Click a project to select it. To load a saved project into the canvas and work on it more, click the frame in the album and then click the Easel button. To delete a project, click the frame and then click the trash can button in the album. Click the X button to close the album.
